Example – Assessments & Grading in Canvas
Assessment 8 April 2022
Canvas offers a flexible and powerful set of tools for creating and managing assessments — from straightforward assignment submissions to more complex graded activities. If you’re used to Blackboard’s approach to assessments, you’ll find much of the same functionality here, though the workflow and terminology may feel a little different at first.
This page brings together everything you need to set up assessments confidently, with links to Instructure’s documentation and guidance specific to the University of Manchester.
What you’ll find on this page:
- Creating assignments and setting submission types
- Building quizzes and question banks
- Using SpeedGrader to mark and provide feedback
- Setting up rubrics for consistent grading
- Integrating third-party tools including Turnitin, Gradescope, and STACK
Whether you’re recreating an existing assessment from Blackboard or building something new from scratch, these guides will help you get it right.
