Viewing course grading history
Canvas provides a detailed log of all marking activity within a course. The Gradebook history records every change made to student marks – showing who made the change and when, and what the original and updated marks were. This feature is especially useful for:
- Monitoring marking progress across staff members
- Verifying marking accuracy and ensure marks were entered correctly
- Ensuring transparency and accountability in the marking process
- Troubleshooting discrepancies in student marks or feedback
To access the Gradebook history, follow the steps below.
- In the course menu, click Grades to open the Gradebook.
- Select the Gradebook link in the top-left.
- Select Gradebook history from the dropdown menu.
You’ll now see a detailed log of changes made to marks by staff. You can filter the information by date, student, grader, and assignment.
Gradebook history can’t be exported, but you can copy and paste the data into Excel to view and sort it easily.
